Video: Big Special - Butchers Bin

De naam BIG SPECIAL gonst al enige tijd in het (internationale) alternatieve circuit. In de UK beschouwt men het post-punk duo als het antwoord op Slaves, een scherpere variant op IDLES en een meer funky alternatief voor Fontains DC genoemd.

Vorige maand kondigde de band, momenteel op tour in Zuid-Amerika met Placebo, hun debuutalbum POSTINDUSTRIAL HOMETOWN BLUES aan, dat op 10 mei verschijnt.

Er zijn intussen al enkele singles verschenen en deze week kwam de meest recente track BUTCHER’S BIN uit, die hieronder te beluisteren is.

Over BUTCHER’S BIN zegt frontman Joe Hicklin:

“BUTCHER’S BIN is about class awareness and the realisation that the working classes are used as nothing but a commodity and set against each other at every turn, their existence trivialised and struggles denied; the off cuts tossed to feed the rabid hounds of neoliberalism. The song is about all of this from the perspective of declining mental health whilst trying to make a living as an artist and to break through in a time and place where a life In art is seen as a luxury granted to those of a higher social class or a fruitless pursuit for idealistic fools.”
