Video: Highasakite - Samurai Swords

Highasakite brengt op 2 december een akoestische EP genaamd Acoustic Versions uit. De akoestische nummers zijn afkomstig van het in mei verschenen studioalbum Camp Echo. De eerste single is Samurai Swords, bekijk de video hieronder.
Camp Echo werd wereldwijd goed ontvangen en is inmiddels ruim 13 miljoen keer gestreamd op Spotify. Highasakite zal op 11 december tijdens de 23e editie van het Annual Nobel Peace Prize Concert optreden. Dit concert zal in ruim 100 landen te zien zijn op TV en wordt live gestreamd op YouTube.
Ingrid en Marte van Highasakite zijn allebei afgestudeerd aan het conservatorium van Noorwegen en die muzikaliteit is goed terug te horen in de akoestische versies. De 4 nummers op de EP werden in Oslo opgenomen met producer Kåre Christoffer Vestrheim, hij zegt hierover:
As Ingrid, Marte and I gathered in Propeller Music Division’s main studio to record the EP, we started with a talk about what sound we should pursue, it was clear that we all wanted something else other than a traditional, pure acoustic sound. We were up for experimentation. I wanted to add an extra dimension to the simple setup; an additional layer, so I picked out a few tape-echoes from our vault, after a bit of testing, we ended up using the Echoplex on the upright and grand piano, creating tails of sound to the accompaniment Marte was playing.
It gave the tracks an extra rhythmic bounce that Marte was really good at utilising, and helped move the songs in different directions. When tracking, we used the Replicator Tape Echo on Ingrid’s voice with pretty fast repeats controlling the feedback manually to create swells and distortion.
